What is the Trisha project you say?
Well, settle in with a drink and a snack and I will share my story and vision for this project.
You see, I am friends with Trisha Yearwood.
No, she does not know and I am NOT a stalker.
When I lived in the Tulsa area and spent lots of time in Owasso and Claremore we used to run into one another all the time.
I literally almost ran into her at Target, have been behind her and Garth in line at the grocery store, ran into Garth at Atwoods, and I know she saw me that day at Albertson’s before it closed.
It wasn’t a real shock to see her living her life in the same places as me.
If I would have only talked to her I KNOW we would be besties now!
I enjoy coooking and I enjoy cooking shows on tv.
So, when I saw my pal Trisha’s first cookbook on the shelf, it was a no brainer.
I picked up that baby, took it home and read it cover to cover.
I got hungry.
I started cooking with Trisha in my kitchen here at Lazy Hound Acres.
Her first recipe I made was what she calls Creamed Beef.
We call it Poop on a Plate.
My momma called it SOS.
If y’all don’t know what that stands for, go ask your parents, or grandparents for you younguns.
Anywho, it was the very best Poop on a Plate ever and took me right back to my childhood. I kicked myself again for never talking to her.
This would have been a perfect time to send her a text with a picture of the plate and a huge thank you for reminding me how much I love it.
Fast forward….Trisha is on TV!!!!
We are reunited!!!!
I faithfully watch every episode either as it airs on a lazy Saturday morning or from the DVR.
I get hungry.
Then there is a SECOND cookbook.
I grabbed it, took it home and read it.
And you guessed it.
I got hungry.
One day, on the show, Trisha and her sister did an homage to Julia Childs.
It was fabulous!
When it ended, I sat on the couch thinking about it and how much fun it was.
Then remembered that movie about the lady who did the blog about cooking through Julia’s cookbook.
I loved that movie.
We would never eat Julia’s food……we eat Trisha’s cooking all the time…..I’m going to cook through Trisha’s recipes and blog about it!
I know, not original, but how FUN!!!
Maybe somehow she’ll see it and realize that we really are BFFs separated by, well, not knowing one another.
Except, she knows now……check it out. I MET HER!!!
So, if you want to see me making huge messes in my kitchen, the hounds enjoying the things that fly off the counter and the yummy goodness that my friend, Trisha, is showing me how to cook, check back here.
