I will admit it, I am not a huge fan of vegetables.
I am working on it.
I just don’t understand eating things that taste yucky!
I was on the lookout for a recipe that was two things:
1. A vegetable
2. Tasted good
I found this recipe for Arkansas Green Beans on Pinterest
Nancy C has many other great recipes and stuff on her site.Check it out if you get a chance.
How good do those look?!?! And the name is perfect….Arkansas….GO HOGS!!!
Sorry, back to the beans.
We already like green beans so maybe this will be a success.
It calls for 5 cans of green beans. WOW!
(Remember the green bean can sculpture in the Ranch Cheese Log post?)
Seems like a lot.
FYI……I have never thrown any of these beans out.
It also says that you can use fresh or frozen. I have tried frozen and….eh….
I haven’t used fresh beans yet.
Someone do that and let me know how they turn out.
Or I’ll get to it when it’s garden time again.
Back to the beans….
I always cook the bacon first.
(Veggies with bacon…HAVE to be good!)
And forget 12 slices….
I use a whole package!
And let’s make it more Arkansas…Petit Jean bacon all the way!
I learned from my girl Rachel Ray that you can cut up your bacon first and then cook it and it is sooo much easier.
While that is cooking, I make the sauce in a little bowl.
Don’t worry…..Dixie is guarding the bacon for me…..Thanks girl!
Garlic…..oh shoot….out of garlic powder….
Onion powder (works just as well…we like it better.)
Then open and drain all those bean cans.
I am using french style this time.
We really like the french cut beans.
Regular cut ones work too.
And a thought here…..I wonder if the garlic green beans would be good here and save you a step of adding the garlic powder….especially if you are out.
Drain those cans good.
Dump all the beans in your dish.
I am taking these to my sisters so I used a pretty dish. (She sure has been getting lots of good food lately…hmmm…)
When the bacon is done, put it all over the top of the beans.
Pour on the sauce.
These are so good.
Every time I make them I say, “man, these are sooooo stinkin’ good”!
Since it is 5 cans of beans, you can easily take them somewhere, like I did to my sister’s AND my in law’s for Christmas.
OR…make these one day and eat them with all your dinners all week. They are just as good, if not better, warmed up.
And you won’t have to make a veggie that night!
