Lately, I have found some unusally exuberant Holiday spirit.
Yes, before Thanksgiving.
I am a Thanksgiving girl.
I tend to always root for the underdog and well, Thanksgiving is the underdog of holidays.
I love it though.
No, presents to buy, it isn’t overly commercialized, it’s just a day to eat food!
Anyway, I was spending some quality time on Pinterest the other day and saw these cute little snowflake things.
And are perfect for my home.
And my sister’s home.
AND you can leave them up until say….March.
I mean, they are just snowflakes.
I am impatient and didn’t want to order them and then wait for them to arrive.
So, I went to the garage.
We had some scrap 2x4s.
I measured, see the pencil marks?
And then I cut that 2×4 into 9 perfect little blocks.
Perfect little blocks.
Then I made them even better by sanding with my trusty palm sander.
didn’t have the color and finish of paint I wanted.
So I made my own.
Then, I painted all of those little blocks.
I made 9.
Three for me.
Three for my sister and three just in case.
And then, I sanded again.
I love them already.
Sanding painted things may be one of my favorite things to do!
It gives it that look like it has been around for years even though I just cut up that 2×4 yesterday.
Next stop snowflakes.
So, I have to admit, I tried to cut them out myself with the stencil blank, my pattern and the exacto knife.
Let’s just say that was a major FAIL!
So, on to the trusty ol’ Cricut and the Craft Room Software on my computer. Ahhh…the sounds of crafting.
Oh. My. Goodness.
They are so cute!
I love my little snowflake stencils.
What else can I use them on?
Oh, sorry. back to the little blocks.
But seriously, aren’t they amazing?!?
Stenciling those little blocks was so much fun.
I can’t say I didn’t make mistakes, but who cares?
It’s art, man!
After each one, I had to say “hey, look at this one” and show it to my husband.
Who really didn’t care, but every time, said “hey, that’s cool”!
Awe. I think I’ll keep him.
All 9 done.
I seriously love these.
For my sister.
And three more.
Maybe for me too.
Or as a surprise for a friend.
Who could I share these with?
